Thursday evening update

For those of you who will be arriving or already  in Vila-real on the
Thursday evening we have decided that it would be a great idea for us all to
have a meal together  before we get caught up in the mayhem of the fiestas.
It will probably be the only chance we have to get to say hello to each
other without some kind of madness (the good kind) going on around us so I
think it would be a good way to kick off the celebrations. It will also give
us the opportunity to fill you in on what to expect over the weekend.
It will take place  at 10 pm  in LLuises Cafe-Bar in Avenida de La Mura , in
the same building as the CSC. Hope to see as many faces there as possible
.If we haven't seen you beforehand at your hotel then this is where we will
get your welcome pack and other stuff  to you. Don't worry if you arrive
here a little later because of train times etc , just come in, it will be an
informal meal and we promise not to point and laugh at late-comers!
What we are doing is actually traditional for that evening as it is the
night of  ' Las Penyas '  where all the various fiesta social club members
sit down with each other for a meal in their clubs ( penyas )  or in
restaurants .We had originally planned to put different groups  of you with
different penyas , but as we will be doing that on the Saturday now due to
the change in the Villareal v Seville match day to Sunday we decided to have
a Celtic fans get- together  dinner instead we will be accompanied by
several CSC members as well as president of the CSC  Ernesto Boixader and
family.

Later we can pop downstairs to the CSC and continue the party with a few
tunes and beers and perhaps the odd showing of  the 6-2 humping :)   before
the more energetic of us  head off out to the town to see the goings on in
the street and bars. We will be joined in the CSC by other members of the
Celtic Submari who were at their local penyas dinners.

We are expecting about 80 folk to arrive on the Thursday now. For those of
you not arriving until Friday reading this , don't worry we will get the
chance to get the welcome packs to you either when you get to your hotel or
by you popping down to the CSC or at the Celtic Dinner-Concert which starts
at 10pm on the Friday evening at the Casal De Las Fiestas( ask any local ,
its very well-known and just up the road a bit from the Palace hotel , the
Azul hotel and La Masia and a 6 minute walk from the other hotels ) .

Last bit of info , due to illness  the trad celtic dance group at the
dinner-concert  will now be ' Keltic Kaos '  and not Claddadh Ring Dancers
as previously advertised.   Hopefully we wont have to bombard you with too
many of these updates and will only send out info that is important to know

Sincerely
Gerard Holtrum-Martin
Co-President Celtic Submari CSC ( Vila-real )

Background Info : Since the visit to Vila-real of thousands of Celtic supporters in April 2004 for the quarter finals of the UEFA cup a special bond has been forged between the supporters of the two teams. This came about as a direct effect of the behaviour and friendliness of the Celtic fans whilst visiting there and has resulted in the creation of a Celtic Supporters Club whose members are all from the town of Vila-real and are supporters of VIllareal CF.

107 members of the Celtic Submari CSC visited Glasgow in April of this year and were warmly welcomed by tens of thousands of fans at CP , Glasgow City Council , and Celtic FC . They used the visit to raise funds in the spirit of CSCs worldwide and managed to raise an impressive 10 ,000 euros ( more than 6 thousand pounds ) for the Yorkhill Childrens Hospital in Glasgow. This was done through a Charity Football match and raffles and auctions. The visiting Spaniards were completely awed with the reception and their time among their new-found friends in the Celtic family.

To cement further the bonds between us they have reciprocated with an open invitation to all of the world-wide Celtic family to their annual Fiestas. Not only are we invited to celebrate the festivities but their will be Celtic events ( concerts etc ) running parallel with their own events. It will be a truly cross-culutral happening and an accolade to the spirit of the Celtic way.

You will find all the information you need regarding what will be happening during the celebrations as well as info on how to get here and getting accomodation in the town , as well as other practical stuff.

These celebrations have already been the focus of some television , radio and newspaper attention and word is gathering fast about what a great weekend this will be. Don΄t miss out on this , get yourself and friends over. If you need to contact us regarding these events email celticsubmari@gmail.com (Thanks to http://www.celticsubmari.com/glasgow/)

There will be Fiesta guides available to let you know what is on and when .

OPEN AIR DINNER\DANCE\CONCERT

This is the evening when the first of our Celtic events happens. It is an open-air dinner dance and concert. The evening will kick of with some food and drink for an estimated 400 people ( this number may well go much higher ) . After the meal the evening will kick off with a DJ to get you all in the mood , then local group La Caja Negra will be playing first to make this a truly cross-cultural event . We will then be given a display of Traditional Irish Dancing by the Claddagh Ring Dancers. Then the concert reaches its climax when the Mourne Mountain Ramblers from Glasgow hit the stage and strike up all your Celtic favourites and a bit more beside.

For the more energetic among you the evening can continue after in the dozens and dozens of parties going on throughout the town .Some of them untill 8 am , although I would recommend having look at Saturday mornings plans before doing this !

Saturday 10th Sept

There will be a similtaneous five- a-side rapid knock out competiton as well, those wishing to take part should get thier team on the list as soon as possible.

VILLAREAL FC v SEVILLE:

The Villareal home game will give us the chance to see the likes of Forlan , Riquelme and Jose Maria in action. There are over a hundred free tickets donated by VIllareal to the Celtic fans for this game.

After the game there are various events still going on around town and the partying will continue well into the night ( this section and others will be updated on publication of the Fiesta Guide which has details of all events.)

Sunday 11th

There will be morning mass in the towns main chapel for those wishing to attend.

You can shake your stuff in the sea or just watch procceedings whilst topping up your tan. Anyone fancying a game of beach football will have the chance to pit their skills against some local lads.
