Bhoys of Croydon No1 CSC
We were formed in 2000 and started with 12 members
. Basically we were a bunch of Scottish and Irish Bhoys and Ghirls meeting
in a pub watching The Old Firm games if they happened to be on and
decided to form a club which we did. It wasn't all plain sailing though
and we have had 3 moves but have ended back at The Broad Green Tavern which
most of our members feel is our " spiritual home". We ended up
with 86 members at the end of this season not all active ( some only joined to
obtain a badge ) . We have followed the traditions of Celtic and
have donated money to charity in some form or another each year since we were
formed .
This season we held a function and had Tommy
Gemmell at our club which was an excellent night. Over the years we have had
on average 50 people watching Celtic live and our biggest attendance was
V Barcelona at "Paradise " last season. We estimated 100 - 120 + on
the night. We like to think we are getting more professional each year and
basically have had the same committee members since we were founded with
the odd change here and there and have also found new blood to give us more
ideas etc. The member base fluctuates depending on where we are but feel that
100 is a goal to aim for this season. We have our own room with a brand new
screen/projector and a couple of TV's dotted around the pub. I have not photos
of the "new room " as we have not had the opportunity yet but maybe
in the future we can do something. We welcome any new members and also any
Tims who are in the area and want to watch "the Tic" with fellow
Tims.
